Looking back on high school,
it was such a waste of time.
But I’ve packed up, moved out, moved on
and, somehow, I’m doing fine.
And I spend most of the week
staring the weekend in the eye;
thinking, why, why, why do I get minimum wage?

Why, why, why?

All the girls I knew in high school
that I used to ogle then,
they’ve all packed up, moved out, moved on,
but I still stare when I see them.
And I spend most of my life
searching for the perfect ten,
singing, how do I get by by making minimum wage?

And I don’t have the drive to stay put
while all the hot girls date my friends.
And I’ve got half a mind to say, screw it,
and not mind it when I wind up losing in the end.

Don’t make a stink about the bring that I’m on.
Don’t be so right, just have a drink and be wrong.
It’s not just you. It’s really hot in here.
Don’t even think the world will shrink when I’m gone.

Why, why, why?

All the kids I knew in high school
that I used to hang out with,
they’ve all packed up, moved out, moved on
and, by now, they’re hardly missed.
And I spend most of my days
figuring ignorance is bliss,
thinking, why do I try when I make minimum wage?

And I don’t have the drive to stay put
while all the hot girls date my friends.
And I’ve got half a mind to say, screw it,
and not mind it when I wind up losing in the end.

Don’t make a stink about the bring that I’m on.
Don’t be so right, just have a drink and be wrong.
It’s not just you. It’s really hot in here.
Don’t even think the world will shrink when I’m gone.
